University Vice-Chancellor A V George administered an oath yesterday to mark the solidarity day.
Around 500 students, holding lighted candles, took the oath at the function.
A video footage of Malala's speech before the United Nations Youth Assembly was screened for the students. A group of students from the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences also took out a rally to mark the day.
Participating in the function, Member of Parliament Jose K Mani said the students should imbibe the spirit of the Pakistani girl who was striving to achieve the aim of 'education for all' in the face of formidable hurdles.
