Member of 5 Seconds Of Summer, the 19-year-old singer and his band mates were among the performers at the SSE Wembley Arena in London, when he stepped too close to the edge of the stage and fell into the pit with his guitar in hand, reported Contactmusic.
He climbed out to continue the performance, and later blamed the tumble on pop star Rita Ora, who was in the audience enjoying their set.
"I was looking at Rita Ora and I was like... 'hey' and I fell," he joked.
"Why do I always hurt myself, all good geezers. On crutches for the next few days. Don't look at me funny pls (sic) lolz (laugh out loud)," he said on twitter.
This is the second time Michael has had an onstage incident.
He was previously engulfed in fire when he stepped too close to a flamethrower, an accident that also occurred at the Wembley Arena.
