The 57-year-old "Scarface" actress will star opposite Robert De Niro, who plays the notorious former Wall Street financial expert who swindled investors out of an estimated USD 65 billion with a Ponzi scheme, reported Entertainment Weekly.
She will play his wife, Ruth Madoff, in the movie which is billed as a look behind the scenes at Madoff's massive Ponzi scheme, how it was perpetrated on the public and the trail of destruction it left in its wake, both for the victims and Madoff's family.
"Wizard of Lies", directed by Barry Levinson and written by Sam Levinson and John Burnham Schwartz, has been in the works for a long time as De Niro joined the cast nearly four years ago.
Alessandro Nivola of "American Hustle" fame has also been signed onto the project as Mark Madoff, son of Bernie.
