Focused on expanding the Windows ecosystem in the country, Microsoft Devices today launched three new handsets to beef up its mid-priced portfolio as it looks to regain ground in the Indian smartphone market.
The three handsets -- Lumia 730, 830 and 930 -- are priced at Rs 15,299, Rs 28,799 and Rs 38,649, respectively.
"Our focus is solely on expanding the Windows ecosystem. We have conducted many surveys and we found that people who use Windows OS once, they want to stick to it. We have been consistently growing our userbase in the country," Ajey Mehta, Managing Director of Nokia India, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile Oy, told PTI.
He added that the company would continue to offer products across price points to cater to a wider audience.
"The affordable segment has seen explosive growth and the mid price segment also continues to do well for us. We will have devices across price points, he said.
Once a leader in the Indian and global handset market, Nokia had gradually slipped in ranking to players like Samsung and Apple. In India, it faced stiff competition from local players like Micromax and Karbonn as well.
The Lumia 830 comes with with a 10-megapixel PureView camera, Windows Phone 8.1 operating system with Lumia Denim update and OneDrive with 15 GB of free storage. It will be available from October 8.
The Lumia 730 dual SIM phone comes with a 5MP front facing camera for Skype video calls and will be available from October 6.
The Lumia 930 has a 20MP PureView camera, a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor and comes integrated Microsoft services like OneDrive and Microsoft Office. The device will be available from October 15.
All three devices will come with an additional 1 Terabyte of cloud storage on OneDrive, free for the first 6 months and chargeable thereafter for Rs 125 onwards per month.
