The two are on a list of approximately 12 young stars including Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and Blake Jenner, reported Variety.
They will be screen-tested by Disney and Lucasfilm.
The movie will not start filming until January 2017 but producers are eager to lock down a star as there is a chance Han could appear in "Rogue One: A Star Wars", which is set in the time period between Episode III and Episode IV.
