"Based on specific information, the troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police under the aegis of Uniform Force Headquarters Reasi, launched an operation and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in higher reaches of Pir Panjal today," Udhampur-based Defense spokesman Col S D Goswami said.
He said that the recoveries include one Pistol, two pistol magazines, one Bore rifle, two UBGL rounds, 57 rounds of pistol, one portable battery charger, electric wire, a blanket and two knives.
He said that the troops marched over a long distance in inclement weather to carry out the search of the forested area and recovered a cache which was hidden underground.
"The timely recovery of the arms and ammunition has thwarted any untoward incident in the area," he said.
