Militants lob granade at RIMS campus in Imphal, no casualty

A hand granade was lobbed by a militant outfit at the residence of the Medical Superintendent of Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) located at Lamphelpat in Imphal West district, but none was injured in the explosion, police said today.
The granade attack took place last night in which two vehicles were damaged, a senior police officer said, adding that the official quarter of the RIMS Medical Superintendent was guarded by a team of 4th IRB.
A four-wheeler and a two-wheeler were badly damaged in the explosion, the officer said.
The proscribed outfit, Maoist Communist Party (Manipur), has owned up for the blast, according to a statement issued to the media by the banned group today.
