The Mines Ministry plans to set up an autonomous think-tank to undertake technical studies for strategic planning and evolving innovative policy options for the government and stakeholders.
It has invited proposals from consulting firms for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for setting up the body which would function as a registered body and be independent of the government.
"Ministry of Mines intends to engage a reputed consultant to prepare a DPR for creating an autonomous centre for techno- economic advice and evolving policy options for the consideration of government with the objective of sustainable development of the mineral sector," the ministry said in a notice inviting request for proposal (RFP).
"The proposed centre will function as a registered society, independent of the government. It would also take up technical studies for the stakeholders in the mineral and mining sector in support of its objectives," it said.
The centre would also undertake specific studies for the ministry and sponsored studies for stakeholders to support sustainable development of the core sectors with a view to provide long-term perspective for natural resources sector.
The proposed consultant's scope of work includes planning and development of the DPR with clearly defined scope, aim and objectives, vision and mission statement, work plan, road map for future growth, budgeting, outcomes and justification.
