Minor girl raped, killed in UP; accused lynched

A five-year-old girl was raped and murdered allegedly by a youth, who was fatally beaten up by locals in Sarai Akil area here and succumbed to his injuries later, police said today.
According to an FIR registered by the minor's family members, the girl was sleeping outside her house last night when the accused Pattu (25), a resident of the same village, took her to a secluded place and raped her.
He strangulated her to death following the act, police said.
Later, the locals reportedly caught hold of the accused and started beating him after which he confessed to his crime, they said.

The girl's body was recovered on the basis of information provided by the accused, they said.
The accused was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said.
No case has been registered in the lynching case yet, police said, adding investigations are underway in both the cases.
