19-year-old Laxman Pal was in relationship with the girl and he went to meet her in Karoma village yesterday, said Pradeep Gupta, Superintendent of Police (Rural).
The girl told Pal that she did not want to be in a relationship with him anymore which infuriated him, the officer said.
Pal allegedly strangled the girl to death and also battered her face with a stone, the police officer said.
The girl's body was found in a field this morning with her hands tied behind.
The girl's body has been sent for postmortem, he said adding that the suspicion of rape will only be cleared after the report is out.
