The victim, a class 10th student, had left her home early yesterday and did not return home till afternoon following which a search was conducted and her body was recovered from the fields last evening, Circle Officer Dinesh Singh said.
The CO said the victim was strangulated to death by her own shawl.
An FIR has been registered, he said, adding, the body has been sent for postmortem.
