"The Mirwaiz, along with his supporters visited the park where he is scheduled to hold a gathering tomorrow to celebrate 50 years of AAC, a religious organisation founded by his father," said Shahidul Isalm, media advisor to the Mirwaiz.
"Mirwaiz wanted to see the venue and check preparations for the rally to make it a success," Islam said.
He said AAC has made all arrangements for the rally and has also sent a letter to the district administration seeking permission for the gathering.
However, police did not allow them to proceed towards Lal Chowk.
