Miscreants burn two auto-rickshaws in Ooty

Two auto-rickshaws, one of them belonging to a local Hindu Munnani functionary, went up in flames, in this tourist town, police said today.
North town Secretary of Hindu Munnani and owner of one of the auto-rickshaws, Nagaraj had lodged a complaint that the vehicle parked near his house, was destroyed in fire, they said.
The incident came to light when some passers-by noticed the auto-rickshaw burning, around 4 AM today and alerted Nagaraj, who rushed to the spot, they said.
While Nagaraj's vehicle was completely gutted in the fire, another auto-rickshaw parked nearby was burnt partially, triggering tension in the area, police said.

A huge posse of police personnel has been posted in the area, which is communally sensitive, to prevent any untoward incidents, they said adding investigations are on.
