A 10-year-old boy who had gone missing yesterday was found dead in a sewer line in Samaypur Badli area here today prompting angry protests by local at the police station of the area.
The locals demanding arrest of murderer of the boy also lashed out at police alleging that it failed to search the boy even though a report was lodged with Samaypur Badli police station after he went missing yesterday afternoon.
"The boy, Abhishek, lived with his parents at JJ Colony in Samaypur Badli and studied in Class V of a neighborhood government school. We have started its investigation in the death of the boy from all angles including murder and accident," said a police official.
The missing case registered by the police has now been converted into a murder case after recovery of the body of the boy.
The locals also said that the sewer, in which body was found, was lying uncovered for a month and it was not covered despite several complaints and the boy may have accidentally fell into it.
The body was discovered floating in a sewer by some children today. The sewer where the body was found is in the locality where he was seen before his disappearance, he added.
Police was informed and the body was retrieved from the sewer. The body bore no injury marks indicating the possibility that he accidentally slipped in the sewer. The exact cause of death will be known after autopsy report, police said.
