Turning down the opposition demand, Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister John Rotluangliana today said he would not resign due to the alleged anomalies in implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Addressing a press conference in the wake of allegations that newly-issued ration cards under Food Security sceheme contained the same birthday date of January one for all the members of families, Rotluangliana said he would not step down as demanded by opposition Mizo National Front (MNF).
The minister attributed the mistakes to ration card holders and leaders of the village councils and local councils who failed to submit detailed information and also by computer data entry operators.
He said massive structural change would be effected in the functioning of the state Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department to fully implement the NFSA.
