Police control room got a message at around 1 PM that blood was dripping out of a truck parked near a hotel under Kherki Daula police station near National Highway No 8, they said.
When police reached the spot, they found nine carcasses and an wounded animal inside the truck.
A medical team was rushed to the spot for treatment of the injured animal and the carcasses were sent for post-mortem, they said.
Meanwhile, some youth gathered at the spot got agitated and tried to set the truck on fire.
To bring the situation under control, more force was rushed to the spot.
FIRs have been lodged against the truck owner under various sections of Animal Cruelty Act and against some youth for beating a police constable and burning down a government vehicle under various sections of the IPC, they said.
No arrests were made till late in the evening, police added.
