The centres would be equipped with the latest technology so as to provide quality treatment to the people, Badal said at the inauguration of the Single Emission Computed Tomography Centre at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital here.
Badal also announced that the government had given land at Mullanpur near Chandigarh for a cancer treatment centre on the lines of Mumbai's Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, and added that he had requested the Prime Minister to expedite the process of setting it up.
A "corpus fund" had been constituted to help cancer patients among the weaker sections, he added.
