Speaking on the occasion, Chandy said the government was coming up with a special housing package for workers in the coir sector.
Chandy pointed out that production of coir products would get a boost by introducing the most modern of machines to co-operative societies and small-scale producers.
The government will take steps to enhance the income of those working in the coir sector and to increase the wage of workers, he said.
