The UPA Government has squandered a golden opportunity given to it for the last 10 years by indulging in and promoting corruption, destroying the economy by neglecting the manufacturing sector and resorting to politics of temporary sops to garner votes, Jayaprakash Narayan alleged at a press conference here.
Narayan said voters in Malkajgiri, from where he is contesting for the Lok Sabha, have already decided to vote against the Congress.
Narayan recalled he had told Modi during his Hyderabad visit that India has to create at least 10 million jobs a year as 15 million people are entering the workforce every year.
As of now, India is providing jobs to just to 10 to 15 per cent of people entering the workforce, said the bureaucrat-turned-politician, who was once a member of the Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council.
Narayan said availability of electricity is a basic requisite for manufacturing to flourish. It is a shame that thousands of small and micro industries have been shut down in Hyderabad and surroundings for want of power. No other country in the world has the dubious distinction of having the largest number of diesel generators as India.
