Abe responded by saying that he is excited to continue working with him and India.
"I congratulate you @AbeShinzo for your election victory. Under your able leadership, Japan will scale new heights of progress & prosperity," Modi tweeted in Japanese language.
"Looking forward to working closely with @AbeShinzo to take India-Japan ties to the next level, benefiting both nations," he said in another tweet.
In his response, Abe tweeted, "Thank you so much for your warm message! Abenomics will never stop advancing. Excited to continue working with you & India!"
Modi and Abe share a close personal relationship which was reflected when the Indian leader travelled to Japan in August.
