Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Joko Widodo for becoming the President of Indonesia and extended his best wishes.
"Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Joko Widodo on being sworn in as the President of Indonesia," the Prime Minister said.
Widodo, Indonesia's first leader from outside the political and military elite, was sworn in as President today.
The 53-year-old former furniture exporter, known by his nickname Jokowi, won the presidency in July after a close race against ex-general Prabowo Subianto.
