"I want to sincerely congratulate Modi and BJP, as no one could have done repackaging and relaunching of old schemes as good as them. However, it does not suit a Prime Minister to repackage old schemes in such a shameless manner and then take credit for it" Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.
He claimed that the much touted 'Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Vidyutikaran Yojna' and the 'Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna' were actually started by Congress-led UPA government before Modi came to power in 2014.
Between 2007 and 2012, UPA government has provided electricity connection to over 1.12 lakh houses under that scheme. While Modi government only managed to provide electricity to some few thousand villages only after relaunching it in 2014," the Rajya Sabha member claimed.
"Other example is of the 'Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna', which was earlier known as the 'Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Program', started in 2007. Modi government only changed it's name.
"Same is the case with soil health card programme, organic farming initiative. All these schemes are renamed and relaunched by NDA," he claimed.
The title of the booklet is "Pragati ki tham gai chaal, do saal-desh ka bura haal" (Development stalled during two years, country in deep trouble).
"This booklet have been launched simultaneously across the country today by our leaders. It is having facts and figures to prove that Modi government has failed on all the fronts, be it agriculture output, inflation, industrial growth, foreign policy, job creation, exports, etc," Singhvi added.
"Agriculture exports was 42 billion USD in 2013-14, which came down to just 32 billion USD within one year under the Modi rule. PM promised to give employment to 2 crore people annually. However, only 1.34 lakhs were given employment each year under Modi government," he claimed.
