The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister in Delhi was one of courtsey and had Nitish Kumar displayed similar 'good sense' earlier Bihar would not had been in the political mire, BJP said today.
"Had such good sense prevailed at that time (2010) Bihar would not have been trapped in political mire today," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters here.
There was, however, no chance of BJP joining hands with JD(U) and Kumar now. "The question does not arise," he said.
Referring to the June 2010 incident when Kumar had cancelled a dinner for BJP leaders, who were here for the party's national executive meeting, after a photograph of Modi holding his hand was published in the newspapers, Sushil Modi said "Kumar had then forgot that Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat and deserved courtesy from a fellow CM."
Later, Kumar was behind JD(U) severing ties with BJP in June 2013 after 17 long years of friendship in the name of same person - Narendra Modi, he said.
Had Kumar followed "normal courtesy" followed by a chief minister for his counterparts in other states he would not have to go to "sit in the lap of RJD President Lalu Prasad."
"Political untouchability should not have any place in public life," he added.
Leader in Opposition in the assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav also took a swipe at Kumar saying had Kumar shown courtesy to Modi then he "need not have to knock the doors of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, visit INLD president O P Chautala in Tihar jail and the 10 Janpath residence of Sonia Gandhi.
