Congratulating Narendra Modi for leading NDA to a "historic win", Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today described the alliance's sweeping victory as a forceful mandate for clear and decisive leadership besides a vote for development.
In a statement here, Badal thanked the people of the country for ensuring NDA's victory and said the spectacular results were a triumph of Modi's approach and firm resolve to make India a leading nation in the world.
Modi's persistent drive against corruption and inefficiency of Congress-led UPA government during the run up to the general elections 2014 has galvanised the NDA's rank and file besides exposing Congress' misdeeds coupled with its divisive policies to destabilise the national fabric of the country, he said.
Badal said the crushing defeat of the Congress in these elections at the hands of NDA was a testimony to the fact that the countrymen have totally rejected the anti-people policies of the Congress party.
NDA has decimated the Congress party across the country and the grand old party of the country is struggling to even touch the three digit mark, he said.
The Chief Minister thanked all the workers, leaders, office bearers and rank and file of SAD-BJP for working day and night for ensuring NDA's victory.
Badal also complimented the Election Commission of India for ensuring a free and fair poll, "as truly reflected in the results".
