Taking a potshot at the Narendra Modi-led NDA regime, Congress general secretary CP Joshi today said even after completing two years in office, the Prime Minister was in an electioneering mode.
"Even after coming to power two years ago, Modi was still in electioneering mode," Joshi told reporters here.
Alleging that when Prime Minister visits non-BJP ruled states, the former Union minister said, he tries to dwarf the Chief Ministers of such states.
"The responsibility of Prime Minister is to take the country ahead with the help of Chief Ministers of all the states. Modi should realise that he was the country's Premier (and) not a Prime Ministerial candidate," he said.
Joshi said the NDA government has failed to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks, check inflation, generate employment and provide good governance as it has promised.
The Congress leader also said the Modi government that "has grabbed power by rhetoric and failed to translate its manifesto into reality".
According to him, the NDA government is "weakening the democracy by not recognising the autonomy of judiciary and constitution institutions".
Hitting back at BJP for its 'Congress Mukt Bharat' slogan, Joshi expressed confidence that his party will bounce back to power in the 2019 general elections and the country will become "Modi Mukt" (free from Modi).
To a query, he said that the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's leadership qualities are going to be witnessed by people shortly.
Asked when Rahul will take the party's reigns, Joshi said, "We are working under a strategy in this regard. He will take the bridle of Congress at an appropriate time".
