Modi strikes emotional chord with Nepalese people

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sought to touch an emotional chord with the people of Nepal saying that "such are our ties that India has won no war in which the blood of Nepalis has not been shed".
For India, Nepalese nationals have not shied away from shedding blood, Modi said while addressing the Constituent Assembly here.
Amid thumping of desks and applause all round, Modi went on to quote Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw to buttress his point.
"If a soldier says he is not afraid of death, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha," Modi said quoting Manekshaw.

Modi described India-Nepal ties as being"as old as the Himalayas and the Ganga" adding that relations "speak the language of the heart" and that "we share culture and traditions".
Citing another interesting angle, he said,"In Kashi Vishwanath temple in India there are 'Pujaris' from Nepal, while in Pashupatinath temple in Nepal there are Pujaris from India".
