Modi thanks Vadodara, says looks forward to serve 'Ganga Maa'

Resigning from Vadodara Lok Sabha seat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed gratitude to the people of the constituency for giving him victory by a "historic" margin and said he would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that its development touches newer heights.
Modi, who decided to represent Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, said he was looking forward to the opportunity of serving "Ganga Maa" and work for the holy city's development.
"Resigned from Vadodara LS seat. Due to people's affection got elected by a historic margin. Will always remain grateful to people of Vadodara," he tweeted.
He had contested the Lok Sabha polls from Vadodara in Gujarat as well as Varanasi and got elected from both.

Under rules, a member who has been elected from two Lok Sabha constituencies, has to vacate one of the seats within 14 days of the declaration of result. The deadline was to expire today.
"I assure people of Vadodara I will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Vadodara's development scales newer heights in the years to come," the Prime Minister tweeted.

The Prime Minister had won Vadodara with a near record margin of 5.7 lakh, which was the biggest in this Lok Sabha polls. BJP has won all the 26 seats in Gujarat.
"I will represent Varanasi in Lok Sabha & I look forward to this wonderful opportunity to serve Ganga Maa & work for Varanasi's development," he said in his tweet.

In Varanasi, Modi was challenged by the Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, whose entry into the fray had turned it into one of the most keenly watched battles of these elections. In the end, however, Modi won by more than 3.7 lakh votes.
At the same time, Modi also congratulated students who successfully passed the CBSE examinations, the results of which were declared today.
"Congrats to my young friends who successfully passed the CBSE exams. I wish them the very best for their future," he said.
