Molestation case: School functionary sent to jail

A key functionary of the Yavatmal Public School (YPS), arrested in a case related to alleged molestation of girls by two teachers of the institute, was today remanded in judicial custody and sent to jail.
Kishor Darda, Secretary of Jawaharlal Darda Education Society, which runs YPS, was sent to jail by Sessions Judge A T Wankhede. He is also Cairman of YPS Management Committee.
Meanwhile, his lawyers filed a bail application, order on which was reserved after the Judge heard the arguments.
Darda, arrested on Monday, is accused of failing to report the offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to the police as required by Section 21 of the legislation.

In a related development, the police custody of Yash Borundiya and Amol Kshirsagar - the teachers accused of molesting the girls in KG and primary classes - was extended till July 9, chief of Special Investigation Team (SIT) Madhav Giri said.
Jacob Das, the school principal, too, has been arrested under Section 21 of POCSO.
