Monsoon session of Nagaland Assembly adjourned sine die

The three-day monsoon session of Nagaland Assembly was today adjourned sine die by Speaker Chotisuh Sazo.
During the session, which began on Tuesday, the House decided to extend the tenure of the chairman and members of Assembly Select Committee on the Nagaland Lokayukta Bill 2015 with instructions to present its report within six months.
The House also passed two fresh bills - St Joseph Catholic University (Nagaland) Bill 2016, and the Nagaland Appropriation (No 3) Bill 2016 and an amended bill - Nagaland Salaries, Allowances and other facilities of the Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Pension for ex-Members (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2016.

The Bill No 3 authorised the state government to withdraw Rs 54.94 crore from and out of the consolidated fund of the state for the year ended March 31, 2012.
The passing of the salaries and allowance fifth amendment bill would enhance the salaries and allowances 60 sitting MLAs, 141 ex-MLAs and 87 family pensioners of MLAs financially prposing an enhancement of Rs 67,05,500 as the existing is Rs 90,94,500 while the revision would enhance it to Rs 1,57,30,000.
The Bill would come into force once the governor gives his assent.
Chief Minister T R Zeliang also presented the Nagaland Department of Underdeveloped Areas Service Rules, 2016 before the House.
