Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in several parts of Odisha, already battered by downpour for the past three days, as a well marked low pressure persists over the region.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at some places of at least 15 of the state's 30 districts till tomorrow, the Meteorological Centre here said today.

The low pressure, which turned well marked, is active over northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining West Bengal and north coastal Odisha with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level, it said.

Under its impact, rain and thunder-shower is likely to occur in the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack and Jajpur.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea along and off Odisha coast and the north-west Bay of Bengal during the period.

The Special Relief Commissioner's (SRC) office said in a statement that river Vansadhara is flowing marginally above danger level at Kashinagar but at Gunupur, it is below the danger level.

Incessant rain for last three days has led to rise in the water level of Vansadhara river at Kashinagar where it touched 54.84 metres as against the danger mark of 54.60.

All major rivers are flowing below the danger level and there is no fear of flood, said an official.

The statement from SRC office said average rainfall of the state recorded for the last 24 hours was 32.8 mm. Two districts have received average rainfall more than 100 mm. The districts are Kalahandi (146.6 mm) and Nuapada (109.1 mm).
