Mortal remains of soldier consigned to flames

Mortal remains of Subedar Ajay Vardhan Tomar, who died during an anti-militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir recently, was consigned to flames with full state honours at Khadkhadi cremation ground near Har Ki Pairi.
Ajay Vardhan, who was in 14 Garhwal rifles, had made the supreme sacrifice during an encounter with militants in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday last.
His body was brought from Dehradun to the cremation ground at Khadkhadi late Friday afternoon where his younger brother Abhay Vardhan and son Akshay lit the funeral pyre.
The last rites were performed in the presence of senior army and police officials.
