Mother and baby die in wall collapse following heavy rains

A mother and her four-month old baby died when a wall of their house collapsed at Sembakudipatti as heavy rains lashed the district for the second day today.
Police said rains inundated almost all the thorough fares of this city and traffic flow was affected. Power supply was also disruped in some areas.
Meanwhile a report from Tirunelveli said ten people from Singamparai, Mukoodal and Thalarkulam areas have been admitted to hospital with symptoms of dengue fever.
Local officials have been asked to take preventive action to prevent spread of dengue in the area,Officials said.
