A 55-year-old woman was arrested today for allegedly murdering her daughter-in-law near Sulur on the outskirts.
Police said 31-year-old C Prajeetha was found dead with her throat slit at her house at Pattanam on December two, in the rural limits.
She was a widow, with two sons and living alone after her husband's death a couple of years ago and reportedly had an illicit relationship with a man, police said.
After finding her paramour innocent on interrogation, police suspected the role of the mother-in-law, Mani. She confessed to the crime on questioning, police said.
Mani used to quarrel with Prajeetha over the illicit relationship as she wanted her to marry her another son.
Following one such quarrel three days ago, Mani allegedly attacked Prajeetha with a knife and slit her throat, police said.
