The Madhya Pradesh government today informed the Legislative Assembly that the state Chief Secretary will conduct a probe into the alleged land grabbing in Satna district.
Leader of Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh, during the Question Hour, sought to know why the state government was not acting against the powerful people, who have "grabbed" over 1,000 acres of state-owned land worth Rs 1,000 crore in two villages-- Sonora and Ramsthan -- in Satna district.
He said despite the Satna District Collector's order issued on March 22, 2016, the land grabbers were yet to be prosecuted.
Singh said that the Satna District SP had also ordered that the land grabbers should be booked, but no action had been taken against them yet.
"This is a serious issue," senior BJP member and former MP Chief Minister Babulal Gaur said seeking action against the land grabbers.
Revenue Minister Umashanker Gupta said he was ready for a probe into the issue by the Divisional Commissioner.
However, Singh pressed for a probe by all-party MLAs.
Amid noisy scenes, Gupta announced that the state chief secretary will conduct a probe into the issue.
