The Madhya Pradesh Congress today claimed that there were irregularities in the voters list in the state and alleged that the ruling BJP would try to influence Assembly polls slated for later this year.

The Congress' MP unit working president Jeetu Patwari today said that electoral rolls in his constituency, Rau, had 4,300 bogus voters and names of several voters had been repeated four times.

"It is our accusation that there are irregularities in the electoral rolls in the entire state and the ruling BJP, through the administration, would try to influence the coming Assembly polls," Rau MLA Patwari told reporters here.

He added that if these irregularities were not resolved, the party would take concerned government officials to court.

The MLA also submitted a formal complaint to district collector Nishant Warwade and divisional commissioner Raghvendra Singh.

Singh said that appropriate action would be taken on Patwari's complaint.

As per the electoral rolls published on July 31 this year, Patwari's Rau Assembly constituency has a total of 2,82,126 voters.

After disposing of claims and objections, the final voters list would be published on September 27, an official said.
