MP govt approves bill guaranteeing land or house for the poor

Madhya Pradesh cabinet today gave nod to a proposed law guaranteeing house or a piece of land for the landless families.
"At today's meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the cabinet has given its nod to the proposal of enactment of a law that would guarantee house or a piece of residential land to the poor sections of the society," Minister for Public Relations Narottam Mishra said.
"The bill would be tabled in the state Assembly during the ongoing budget session," Mishra said, adding that Madhya Pradesh would be the first state to enact such a law for the landless poor.

There would be no shortage of public land for the implementation of this law and if needed the government would purchase private land, he said in reply to a reporter's question.
The cabinet today also approved construction of 25,000 houses for the police personnel over the next five years, he said.
