The moves comes after the Central government launched a pilot project for spreading financial literacy in Gujarat, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.
As part of the initiative, the state Chief Secretary Antony DeSa addressed a meeting of State Level Bankers' Committee here yesterday, an official of the Public Relation department said today.
Under the project, students from class VIII to XII will be apprised of preliminary information about banking system, financial vocabulary and management.
DeSa directed to ensure necessary arrangements for financial literacy in all higher secondary schools in the state, the official said.
During the meeting, various social security schemes, including Grameen Aawas Mission, Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana, Arthik Kalyan Yojana, self-help groups and activities under Rural Livelihood Mission were also reviewed.
The bankers' committee was also given information about implementation of schemes for relief to farmers affected by natural calamities, the official said.
The Chief Secretary directed to accelerate pace of disposal of cases under 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana'. He said that most of the beneficiaries of government schemes were being provided funds through banks.
