These directions were given by a division bench of Justice P K Jaiswal and Justice Alok Varma in response to a PIL filed by a local lawyer Ajay Mishra, alleging that in the absence of proper arrangements to deal with swine flu, patients were constantly succumbing to the dreaded virus.
In a detailed order, the division bench directed the state government to supply medicines to the private chemists' shops. The court also directed the state to ensure availability of adequate number of ventilators in government hospitals to provide free facilities to such patients.
The bench directed making of provision of free ambulance, beds and ventilators to swine flu patients.
The bench highlighted the need to set up a laboratory in Indore to test swine flu and directed spraying medicines (chemical) in drains and at other places to kill the virus.
The court also directed advertisements to be issued in print and electronic media to raise awareness among people against the dreaded virus.
