MP mining officer threatened by sand mafia

A Mining Officer was threatened with dire consequences allegedly by sand mafia after his team intercepted trucks carrying illegally mined sand in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh today, the police said.
The incident occurred when Mining Officer Ashok Singhare and his team comprising a mining inspector and two guards intercepted the trucks on suspicion of ferrying the sand mined illegally from the Narmada river in Nadan area of the district, a police official said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) A P Singh said a group of around 23 men encircled Singhare and his team and threatened them with dire consequences if they took action against them, before leaving the spot.

Sehore is the home district of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Police have identified three persons so far, Singh said.
"We have booked Mukesh Sharma, Rinku Parihar and Ankur Yadav along with 20 unidentified persons under relevant sections of the IPC on the basis of the complaint lodged by the officer," the ASP said, adding a search is launched to trace the others.
