"The incident occurred this morning when the tanker was on its way to Chennai from Mathura and it hit a divider on the four-lane highway number 7 before skidding," said Bandol police station in-charge, L S Jharia.
The driver of the tanker suffered injuries in the mishap and he was admitted to district hospital, he said.
The accident caused traffic jam on both sides of the highway, following which traffic was diverted from an alternate route, Jharia said.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure the district administration got nearby areas evacuated and have also disconnected power supply.
Besides, people living in 5-km radius from the spot of the mishap were told to move to safer places, said District Collector Bharat Yadav.
