Sahoo, a Cost Accountant, was General Manager Finance at MRPL before being elevated to the Board position, the company said in a statement.
He takes over from Vishnu Agrawal who superannuated on January 31.
"Sahoo brings to the table over 25 years of rich experience in various aspects of finance and finance management, with 16 years specially in project implementation and management," the statement said.
Having started his career as a trainee with NALCO in 1989, Sahoo worked in various PSUs like Industrial Development Corp of Odisha (1992), Odisha Hydro Power Corp (1996), Dredging Corp of India (2002) before joining MRPL in March 2011.
