MS University opposes construction of hotel near VC bungalow

The syndicate of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda today decided to take all possible steps to oppose the construction of a commercial property and hotel at the Jay Baug premises, adjacent to the Vice Chancellor's bungalow and the Faculty of Fine Arts.
The construction would spoil the academic atmosphere and the ecosystem of the area, the varsity feels.
Amit Dholkia, in-charge registrar, said, "The ongoing construction is against the spirit of earlier order of the High Court which had directed not to construct a mall or cinema hall on the property.
