The company, which offers services in Delhi and Mumbai, had reported a net loss of Rs 730.83 crore for the same period last fiscal, MTNL said in a BSE filing.
Total income from operations of the company also declined to Rs 770.77 crore for the reported period as compared to Rs 816.92 crore last year.
Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had last month said that MTNL is likely to turn profitable in next financial year.
"They (MTNL) have promised me that in fiscal 2016-17, like BSNL, they will also come into operating profits," Prasad had said.
