Mughal Road rally to begin from June 27

The fourth edition of the Mughal Road rally will be held next month with a view to showcase adventure and varied tourism potential across the historic road and other tourist circuits connected with the inter-regional link in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The 4th Mughal Road Motor Rally would be organised from June 27 -30," an official spokesman said after a meeting chaired by Tourism Minister G A Mir here today.
The four-day motor rally is organised by Himalayan Motor Sports Association, Shimla in sponsorship with J&K Tourism Department.
The rally will be held in two categories - 'Xtreme' and 'Enduro'. The Xtreme is the fast paced event with professional drivers, whereas the Enduro is the slower category promoting tourism through motoring in the state.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister said the main aim of organising such events is to promote adventure and caravan tourism in the state.
He also underscored the need for pro-active publicity and focused campaign to promote adventure tourism at a large scale along Mughal Road and other tourist circuits connected to this historical passage.

The minister has directed all the concerned authorities to ensure foolproof arrangements for the rally and stressed on close coordination between civil and police administration for providing necessary logistic support to the rallyists.
Mir asked the authorities for ensuring smooth traffic regulations during the rally period for convenience of general public as well as the participants of the event.

He directed deployment of rescue teams at all the vulnerable points enroute the rally and instructed concerned authorities for providing helipad sites.
There would be a dedicated teams of doctors and para-medicos besides ensuring the availability of critical ambulances during the event.
