Mukherjee will address MLAs and MPs belonging to the Congress and UPA constituents from the state, Assam PCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita told newsmen here.
"He will also hold a meeting with presidents of the PCC of various North Eastern states here," he said here.
Mukherjee will spend the night of July 6 in Guwahati, before heading for Agartala in Tripura the next morning.
Assam's principal opposition party All India United Democratic Front is a constituent of the UPA.
The third largest party in the state - Bodoland People's Front is part of the ruling coalition in Assam but has so far not declared its views regarding the presidential polls.
Opposition Asom Gana Parishad has already announced its suppport for Mukherjee's rival P A Sangma.
