Mulayam to campaign for rape accused minister

SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav will address a public meeting in favour of party colleague and rape accused Gayatri Prajapati, who is contesting from Amethi.
Party media incharge in Amethi Sanjay Singh told PTI that the former UP chief minister will address a public meeting at Gayadeyi Degree College in Amethi tomorrow.
Despite the strategic poll alliance between the Samajwadi Party and Congress, candidates from both the parties are pitted against each other in Amethi.
Congress candidate Ameeta Singh is pitted against the controversial state minister Gayatri Prajapati, against whom a criminal case has been lodged on the Supreme Court orders for his alleged role in the rape of a woman.

On Monday, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had addressed an election rally in Amethi, campaigning for the tainted SP minister but did not share the dais with him.
On the directives of the Supreme Court, UP Police has filed an FIR against Prajapati, a senior SP leader, in connection with separate cases of gangrape and attempt to rape another woman and her minor daughter.
