Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), a statutory authority for generation of non-tariff revenue and creation of assets for Indian Railways, has finalised developers, and sites have been awarded to them for setting up MFCs at Dharmavaram, Kacheguda, Karimnagar, Nellore, Nizamabad, Vijayawada and Zahirabad for an amount of Rs 22.34 crore.
MFCs will provide multiple passenger facilities like shopping, food stalls/restaurants, book stalls, PCO booths, ATMs, medicines and variety stores, budget hotels, food plaza and parking spaces to rail users at railway stations, according to SCR.
In all, 13 stations have been identified on SCR for development of MFCs, which include these seven.
Amongst the others, the MFCs at Hyderabad and Rajahmundry have already been constructed and leased out.
The MFCs at Aurangabad and Guntur have been constructed and are ready for commercial utilisation.
The MFCs at Kurnool Town and Nanded are under process of tendering to finalise agencies for taking up development works, it was stated.
