Mumbai Football Club player fails dope test

Mumbai FC player Dane Lloyd Pereira has been banned from playing professional football until further notice after he failed a dope test during the current I-League season.
The 29-year-old Mumbai midfielder tested positive for a banned substance in the test conducted by National Anti-Doping Agency.
"Dane Lloyd Pereira, right footed Mumbai FC midfielder, is banned from playing professional football until further notice as he failed the dope test during the course of Hero I-League 2014-15," the I-League said in a statement on its website.
"Pereira has tested positive in a dope test conducted by NADA i.E. National Anti Doping Agency. These substances can usually serve as performance-enhancing drugs, hence they have been banned in sports," it said.

Pereira played for Chennaiyin FC in the inaugural edition of Indian Super League last year.
Three years back, another former Mumbai FC player Nishant Mehra was banned for two years after he tested positive for banned dug tetrahydrocannabinol.
Former Mahindra United defender Arun Malhotra was the first high profile footballer in the country to be banned after he failed a dope test in 2002 and was stopped at the last minute from traveling with the national team for the Busan Asian Games.
