A major fire that broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building in the southern part of the city this evening was brought under control by late night, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said.
Six firemen were injured in the fire-fighting operation, but none of the residents were reported to have suffered injuries.
The blaze started in the 26-storey Mont Blanc building in posh Kemps Corner area this evening, a fire brigage official said terming it as a "major" fire.
Fourteen fire engines, seven water tankers and four ambulances were rushed to the spot.
A resident told reporters that due to multiple cylinder bursts in the apartments, the fire spread across the entire floor.
The cause of the fire was not yet known.
Late in the night, a fire brigade officer said that fire was mostly put out, while BMC sources said was "under control".
Local Congress leader Amin Patel claimed that there were no casualties among the residents.
