Mumbai Police Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar launched the mobile command centre.
"If any law and order situation emerges or any kind of disaster happens, police will send this mobile command centre to the spot. CCTV cameras, which are installed on the roof of vehicle, will catch the live video from the spot and it will be sent to the command centre in Mumbai Police's main control room through satellite," a police officer said.
"This mobile vehicle was procured by a private company as a part of police modernisation exercise. This vehicle will help in maintaining law and order situation as well as in disaster control," police spokesperson DCP Ashok Dudhe told PTI.
Although the city now boasts of 6,000 CCTV cameras, this vehicle will help wherever CCTV cameras are not installed, police said.
